Elephant and Castle is being replaced with a picture of Elephant and Castle. We live in the gap.

Beginning this autumn, What the Ellie will report on the largest redevelopment in Zone 1 from a distance of roughly three hundred yards, on foot, with the flash on.

Our correspondents intend to cover: planning applications, translated out of council-speak and into English; the businesses that have closed, and what is going in their place; the hoardings, and the distance between what they promise and what stands behind them; and the three wind turbines on the roof of the Strata, which do not turn.

We are not neutral. We would like the new thing to be for us. Where it is, we shall say so. Where it is not, we shall say that rather louder.
